REACT News Desk (SUITLAND,MD) -- October 12, 2008

REACT International unveiled a new BLOG page to allow directors, officers and committee chairs to post announcements on various topics, and to allow members to post responses. To access the new BLOG page, click here.

We are also starting a new Members Only section of the website. The only way to access this section is with a userID and password which is distributed monthly via the electronic newsletter sent to those members who have valid email addresses on file. We've posted current financial statements for the organization, plus other information which is restricted for access by members only.

Electronic Newsletter Started

Electronic Newsletter Started - Secretary Besing began sending personalized email messages to those members who have provided us with their correct email addresses. These messages are being used for official news and announcements from the Board of Directors. To avoid Spam filters, we are using specialized mailing software that sends individual email messages addressed to each member. Instructions on how to unsubscribe are included at the bottom of every message. If you have not been receiving these messages from REACT International, please double check to make sure we have your correct email address on file or that we aren't ending up in your junk mail folder.

New Directors Seated

At the board's electronic meeting today, the board accepted the results of the election and seated John Knott for Region 3 Director, B.F. Frank Jennings for Region 6 Director, and Kenny Jagdeosingh for Region 9 International Director. The board also filled the vacancy for District 4 by appointing Ed Kerby, Jr. as Region 4 Director. This action restored all positions on the board of directors which had been vacant or up for re-election.

A Young Hero-- Matthew Lovo Jr., or simply "Matty" to his friends, is a hero. On August 6, 2007, using quick wits and the two-way radio in his father's semi-truck, he called for help while he steered his father's semi-truck out danger. Matty is nine years old. Matty was presented the REACT 'Radio Hero Award' for his heroism and using two-way radio communications to save a life.
